To sustain Thailand cane and sugar industry, cane growers must be trained continuously in management and updated with technology while sugar millers have to improve technique of sugar production for effective performance. These will also
strengthen industry’s competitiveness in the World market. Therefore, Mitr Phol Sugarcane Research Center is presently organized in five departments :
Cane Research : Emphasis on developing technology and management of sugarcane production from varietal development, production technology, pest and disease control practices, soil improvement and fertility, farm machinery, management system and technology transfer.
Sugar Research : Focus on improvement of milling process, storage and inventing value-added products from sugar.
Bio-energy Research: To support ethanol production, one form of renewable energy from sugar industry. Focusing on improvement of production through screening of local microbiology and standardize fermentation process.
Development : To support all branches of research work by liaison with local, national and international organization, analyze and create research database, produce various forms of media and organize training for research, field and milling staff.
Administration: To facilitate all research staff in administrative work and finance.
